What can you find on Youtube?

I actually found some good things on Youtube.  I found a few videos for ESOL, in which teachers talk about their lessons for 1st grade and 5th grade level.  The teachers explain the level of thinking for the lesson and how the students are learning through discussion, vocabulary and, hands-on activities. The first graders are learning about frogs and discuss what is a toad.  They also discuss things that are not toads.  The fifth graders are learning about the crusades if its a religious war or not.  They are building vocabulary and mapping the connections of each side of the war. This appeals to me to see what kind of lessons other students are learning and how the lessons are being scaffold.

The interesting "How to" video I found was How to Create a Website with Circle Pad.  This gives a whole new twist on creating a website without using html, css and ftp.  They have usable templates that are easily manipulated to make the site your own. I will definitely explore it to see if its worth creating a website.

The one thing I'm glad they added on Youtube was animal planet segments on Pets 101.  This is great if you are researching to find a pet.  It explains temperament, health problems, and how family oriented they are.

I have explored TeacherTube before.  Teachers are able view videos with helpful lessons that many other teachers have created.  I was happy that this site wasn't blocked.  Its a shame that Youtube is blocked but I can see why.  There are many videos out there waiting for us to explore their usefulness for our classroom.  We need to find more sites that can benefit our students to mee their visual needs.

Enjoy this video.  To explore the ones I found, go to www.delicious.com/abooe.  Have fun!
